Who We Are

The Daily Sprout is a nationally-ranked, female-founded and female-led lifestyle blog that’s grown from a one-person operation in 2016 into a digital brand that reaches a community of people internationally. We strive to consistently create next-level content and events for readers. We also like the world and its inhabitants, so 100% of our proceeds benefit humanitarian organizations worldwide.

It all started when Marisa (below) used to jot-down seemingly boring health, wellness, food, and natural beauty info for her friends and family. More people became interested, and thus, The Sprout was born.

Hi, I’m Marisa, founder of The Daily Sprout

If you’re ever looking for me, find the closest farmer’s market. There — there I am. See me? Years ago I was diagnosed with Lupus, which had a massive impact on my health and life. I was on silly doses of strong medicine, but nothing helped. I even lost my hair. Then wouldn’t you know it, I changed my focus to a natural lifestyle and that sh** started to get better. I changed my eating habits (hiya, plants), tossed the nasty makeup and serums from department stores, and ditched chemicals as best I could. I became a hippie in a high rise. Since adopting this life, I was able to stop taking medicine, when before that nothing helped. That, combined with all the scientific studies, solidified my belief that our health comes from living as naturally as possible.

Detroit-bred, I’m a jazz-nerd, writer, paddle boarder, fairly good surfer, horrible tennis player, decent skier, semi-acceptable squash player, animal-lover, soup-aholic, dog mom, and I wear sunscreen the same way Larry David does. I prefer to eat with tiny forks, but really big spoons, and overall have a weird cutlery obsession. I believe there’s no outfit that Vans don’t match. If I could live anywhere in the world it would be Spain. My favorite vacations are getting lost in the street art and edgy galleries of foreign countries, like the graffiti of Berlin, the Graffik Gallery in London, and Christiania in Copenhagen. I also think I’m one of the funniest people I know.

As the token hottie on the team, working around here can be a challenge. But I’m a team player, and obviously they need me, so I stick with it. I enjoy a bi-coastal life, and have racked-up quite a few airline miles. Because my mom rescued me (clearly, she’s the one who won in the end), she likes me to never feel alone. People fawn over me everywhere, but I only pretend to care if there’s a chance they’ll give me food. Wait, do you have food? Never mind. So yeah, my favorite city is Birmingham, Michigan because it’s where my grandma lives and she sneaks me treats. I also enjoy constantly allowing ambulances and vacuums to frighten me, finding delightful delicacies on the street, while occasionally deciding my own food obviously will not suffice, munching on frozen cauliflower, and picking fights with dogs no less than ten times my size (I weigh nine pounds). I’m also clearly quite the ladies’ man. Duh.
